Saturday 6th September, Edinburgh saw the official opening of the Arboretum Pavilion and playing-fields which has been made possible through a partnership between ESMS and the City of Edinburgh Council. The partnership will ensure that the playing fields at Arboretum are well maintained with excellent accommodation for community users as well as for those associated with the ESMS family of schools.
The launch at Arboretum Pavilion was attended by invited guests, including Councillor Lesley Hinds and Councillor Cathy Fullerton, Vice Convenor of Education, Children and Families Committee, City of Edinburgh Council who cut the ribbon on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council.
Councillor Cathy Fullerton said:
'This is a fine example of a co-operative approach between the Council and our partners ESMS. The new pavilion is most impressive'.
David Gray, Principal, ESMS said:
'The Erskine Stewart's Melville Schools and the Melville College Trust have invested significant sums of money to renovate and refurbish the pavilion and to upgrade all the playing facilities which we are now committed to maintain to a very high standard for the benefit of local schools and sports clubs as well as the pupils of ESMS.'
Saturday's event included the viewing of a rugby match hosted by Trinity High School and a football match hosted by St Thomas of Aquin's High School
