We are excited to announce that ESMS has been named as a finalist in two categories of the 2024 Independent Schools of the Year Awards: Best Use of Education Technology, and Rising Star of the Year. The ISOTY Awards highlight transformative and innovative projects from schools across the UK, and we are immensely proud to see our staff and students' efforts recognized this way.
Best Use of Education Technology:
ESMS is a finalist in the Best Use of Education Technology Award. As a Microsoft Education Global Showcase School, we are at the forefront of integrating technology into education. This year, we are particularly proud of our innovative use of immersive technology to support neurodivergent students at our Junior School and help their peers develop neuroempathy. This novel approach, led by our Head of e-Learning, Mr. Simon Luxford-Moore, along with the Digital and Support for Learning teams, has seen fantastic outcomes in our classrooms.
Rising Star of the Year:
Extraordinary students are the pride of ESMS, but in the 23/24 session, we were especially proud of our then S5 student, Lewis Swire, who is a finalist in the Rising Star of the Year Award. At just 17, Lewis had already received accolades for his social entrepreneurship, including founding The Curious Times, co-founding the Global Young Entrepreneur Society, and joining the Youth Advisory Board of Childnet International. Lewis has left ESMS a year early to begin his BA in Modern Ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and we are sure to hear about his work in the future.
All of this recognition builds on our success from last year when we were named the Independent School of the Year 2023 in the Performing Arts, Music, and Drama category and we are excited to attend the awards ceremony on 8 October with the other finalists.
