We are delighted to announce that The Mary Erskine School and Stewart’s Melville College are both finalists in the Independent Schools of the Year 2020 Awards. The Mary Erskine School is a Finalist in the Independent Girls’ School of the Year and Stewart’s Melville College for Independent Boys’ School of the Year, the only Scottish schools to be nominated in these categories.
The judging panel will be chaired by Dr Helen Wright, international education advisor and past Vice Chair of the Independent Schools Council and the winners will be announced this month.
Ms Nicholson, Head of The Mary Erskine School said:
“It is a real honour to have been chosen as a finalist in the Independent Girls’ School of the Year category. It a fantastic recognition of our passionate, talented staff and the wonderful opportunities young people are presented with at The Mary Erskine School. We help them to find and use their voices, and become confident, secure, ambitious, and forward thinking. The world is ever changing and they are ready to take their place in it when they move on from us”.
Mr Clark, Head of Stewart’s Melville College said:
“It’s wonderful news that we are finalists in the Independent Boys’ School of the Year category. At Stewart’s Melville College boys leave school with lifelong friendships and the strength of character, social skills, imagination and self-belief they need to find success in whatever they turn their minds to. They respond to our core belief in resilience, virtue, wisdom and esprit de corps and it’s great to see the awards recognising these old-fashioned, but all-important traits at a time of bewildering change and unprecedented challenge”.
Thank you to all of our staff and pupils. These nominations are a reflection of your continued dedication.
