ESMS are pleased to announce the launch of our digitised Archives, starting with Stewart’s Melville College World War 1 and World War 2 records.
433 Former Pupils from Daniel Stewart’s College, Melville College and the Edinburgh Institution fought and sadly lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. Our Roll of Honour can now be viewed online, along with information about where each individual pupil served, where they fell and ultimately where they are buried. Visitors to the site can browse records or search for specific names to learn more about the actions and experiences of family members who served.
Stewart’s Melville College and The Mary Erskine School archives locate, collate and preserve school records and memorabilia and we are proud that this wealth of information that has been carefully gathered will soon be available online for our school community to view.
Our current collection includes fascinating pieces such as old uniform, trophies, books and much more. Our aim is to add as much of this as possible from both Stewart’s Melville College and The Mary Erskine School to our Digital Archives over time, making this available to the wider ESMS Community wherever they are based in the world as well as preserving it for future generations.
For enquiries, to organise a visit to the Archives in person or to donate any materials to the School Archives, which would be gratefully received, please get in touch with the Archives Department on archivesmc@esms.org.uk.
