The spring term is underway and our children are once again immersed in school life. With the Prelims now over, we sat down with this year’s Head Boy, Forbes and Head Girl, Maia to find out more about them and their duties at school.
-
What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?
Maia - I enjoy getting to meet and work with lots of different people, as well as seeing those who are responsible for a lot of the work which goes on behind the scenes at school.
Forbes - I really enjoy attending a variety of events such as House Music, S1 Disco and FP dinners. Also, I like being out on the Astros and getting to know the younger years better.
-
What motivates you in your role as Head Girl/Boy?
Maia - I have really enjoyed my school experience, right from Primary 1, and feel that the school has given me so many opportunities. I wanted to give back to the school and to my year group for the support, help and kindness that they have shown me over the years.
Forbes - Whilst being at the senior school I have had so many incredible opportunities and I enjoy giving something back to the school.
-
What is your most memorable school experience?
Maia - Performing in House Rock with the Kintyre band was an incredible thing to be part of. I really enjoyed being on stage with my friends and playing with such a range of talented musicians. The event was a culmination of practices and rehearsals and it felt great to come out and give a wonderful performance at the end.
Forbes - Without a doubt, spending three weeks in Malawi on a school trip.
-
If you won a fortune on the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the money?
Maia - As I am learning to drive right now, probably the first thing I would want to buy is a car! I would save some money to pay for the rest of my education but the rest I would use to fund bursaries for girls’ education across the world so that every girl has the opportunity to receive a good education, like the amazing one that I have had here at ESMS.
Forbes - I would help fund Open Arms charity in Malawi and spend time out there helping people and try to make a difference. I would also buy a house in the Alps for altitude training to use with friends.
-
What’s the one thing you would never do again?
Maia - Lie to my mum!
Forbes - Run a half marathon with only one piece of toast for breakfast.
-
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Maia - Mission control at NASA!
Forbes - Hopefully still competing in triathlons.
