Our Primary 1 Assessment Morning on Saturday, 19 January 2019 will be the ideal opportunity for your child to join our unique family of schools.
At ESMS, we want to feel confident that all of our children will be happy and successful. Our expectation is that the boys and girls will be able to access the curriculum whilst still enjoying the multitude of opportunities available. Therefore, children who are not currently part of our Nursery and who would like to enter Primary 1 are assessed so that we can get to know them. We look at their potential to ensure they will blend well with the children who have already spent some time in our school Nursery and that we are able to meet with their needs.
- Assessments are held in a child-friendly environment, with activities designed to enable the child to relax and to be themselves
- Each child works one to one with one of our Early Years Teachers
- Our entrance assessments cover a range of areas such as language and communication skills, basic numeracy and fine motor control skills
- We do not expect children to be able to read or write and no preparation is required
All of our teachers enjoy meeting and finding out more about each child and their interests. At the same time, our multipurpose hall for Nursery and Primary 1 children is transformed into a café providing Mums and Dads with space to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee whilst reading the paper and the chance to chat with members of our Junior School Management team.
For further information regarding the assessment please contact the Admissions Manager, Aoife Buckley, at The ESMS Junior School.
