We are excited to share that the Mary Erskine 1st XI have been named joint Scottish Schools’ Cup Winners for 2019/20!
The achievement is a fitting end to a tremendous season in which the team were undefeated.
Their cup run was challenging, exciting and their games pushed the team to give peak performances against tough opponents in Gordonstoun, GWC, St George’s and defending champions Dollar Academy.
Coach Caroline Maclean said “This achievement is testament to this squad’s talent, their united positive attitude and their incredible dedication on and off the pitch. The players have been an absolute privilege and joy to work with. Their success is very much deserved.”
The final game between MES and Strathallan was due to take place on 13 March, but due to widespread disruption caused by coronavirus the decision was made to postpone the match.
In line with the most recent Government guidelines, Scottish Hockey have now made the difficult decision to award a joint cup win for MES and Strathallan.
Kirsty Nicholson, Head of The Mary Erskine School, said “We are all so proud of the 1st XI Hockey squad. They’ve had a tremendous season and winning the Scottish Schools’ Cup is well deserved. Well done girls!”
